Sorry, St Lawrence

This time last year I wrote about not quite having lovely red tomatoes ready for St Lawrence's feast day. Earlier this summer I planted some again...

Above you can see how far they've got. And no, they're not mini cherry tomatoes - they're supposed to be big juicy plum ones. Is it this summer, or is it me?  Ah, well. St Lawrence and I will have to wait for our luscious home-grown tomato salad a little while longer. Hold the mozzarella...

  1. It must be this summer. At the rate our cucumbers are growing we'll still be waiting for our sandwiches at Christmas!

    1. Well, I'm sorry about your cucumbers but I'm glad to think it's not just me! And I have one solitary green bell pepper! I'm trying to think of a recipe that will duly celebrate it while making it go a long way!

  2. Oh this year has been dismal. I have had 8 tomatoes so far (cherry) and two courgettes, one of which was half eaten by the time I got to it. I planted squash and cucumbers in February and March and I have one tiny cucumber on one of them. *sigh*

    1. Hello Julianne! Thanks for stopping by, as we bloggers say (don't we?)

Maybe this summer will bring back a trend for Nouvelle Cuisine - minuscule portions of tiny baby vegetables! Ah well... At least I can stop blaming myself! The apple trees at Buckfast seemed healthily laden though...
